Susan Jahnke

Susan Jahnke, 86, of DuBois, went to be with the Lord at 2:25 P.M., Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at Pinckneyville Skilled Care after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Susan was a homemaker and was truly devoted to the care of her family.  She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois for her entire life and a member of Catholic Daughters.
She was born August 1, 1916 at DuBois, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Gajewski) Dalman.
She was united in marriage to Don Jahnke on October 10, 1936 at St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois and he preceded her in death on November 15, 1998.
She is survived by one son - Alfred Jahnke and wife Virginia of DuBois, one daughter - Eileen Siefert and husband Herschel of Du Quoin.  Also surviving are six grandchildren, Kim Tumbarello of Murphysboro, Chris Jahnke of DuBois, Stacey Edward of Massachusetts, Margaret Myers of Florida, Matthew Siefert of Du Quoin and Steven Jahnke of DuBois and three great-grandchildren, Tyler and Todd Jahnke of DuBois and Tim Myers of Florida.  She is also survived by one sister - Amanda Donelly of St. Peters, MO and a special nephew, Jerry McEwan of Chandler, AZ.  Also, many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, six sisters and one great-granddaughter - Cindy Jahnke.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 22, 2003 at St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois with Msgr. Melvin Vandeloo officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Friday at Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.
The Rosary was recited at 7:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Interment was in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the St. Charles Church Building Fund or Hospice of Perry County.
